Player suspected of involvement in the journalist's death

Javid Huseynov, the Azerbaijani footballer, was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of involvement in the killing of a journalist who criticized him on facebook

The player, who played against Portugal (Lusa 2-0 win) in a qualifying game for the 2014 World Cup, was arrested with five other men on suspicion of being the moral author of the attack that killed the journalist Rasim Aliyev and be in the custody of authorities during the three months that will run the investigation.

The journalist, 30, criticized Huseynov on facebook by waving a Turkish flag after the game against Apollon Limassol, the third of the Europa League qualifying round on Thursday, and to have made an offensive gesture to a journalist.

Before he died, Aliyev said the hospital had received a call from a man who identified himself as Huseynov's cousin, who will have an appointment. "I was alone. There were five or six people who immediately hit me," added the journalist.
